SD
Card, also known as Secure Digital Card,
is a fast and simple memory device the size of a postage stamp.
SD Memory Card was jointly developed
by Matsushita Electronic (maker of Panasonic brand name products),
SanDisk and Toshiba. Secure Digital Card (SD Card) weighs
approximately two grams and is nonvolatile solid-state, which
means that a Secure Digital Memory Card does
not require power to retain the information stored on it and has
no moving parts.

Memory Stick, developed by Sony, offers the convenience

jointly developed by Sony and SanDisk, offers high capacity and
high-speed data transfer which meets the new needs of the broadband
era. Memory Stick PRO media enables real-time recording of high-resolution
video and other solutions for the broadband era in a reliable
and secure environment. To meet this high-quality video recording,
the Memory Stick PRO minimum write speed has been standardized
at 15Mbps and supports data transfer speeds of up to 160Mbps (theoretical
value).
